What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel (or skin peel) is a resurfacing treatment that improves the appearance of the skin. A peel treatment helps to loosen the connections between dead skin cells. This allows for efficient exfoliation and stimulates new skin cell growth. Chemical exfoliation also encourages the skin to produce collagen and hyaluronic acid. As a result, you will see an improved skin texture, tone and an all round smoother, brighter more youthful complexion. What more could we ask for!
A young skin creates new cells every 28 days. As we age, this process begins to slow and may only happen every 50 days. This can create a dull skin or a dry and dehydrated complexion. A chemical exfoliant will lift all the dead cells and allow all your skin care products to penetrate and take effect.
Am I suited to a chemical peel?
A skin peel can be added into all skin routines to create a healthy, fresh, glowing skin. Many of my clients choose to have skin peels to brighten their skin for special events. Others opt for a peel treatment to target ageing concerns, rosacea, teenage acne, adult acne, open pores or pigmentation.
What type of chemical peel is the best for me?
It is important to realize that when getting a peel treatment, it is not a one size fits all approach. There are multiple types of chemical exfoliants eg salicylic acid, glycolic acid, malic acid etc. There are also varying degrees of depth. One can get a very superficial peel or a deep peel. Some prefer to opt for a mild treatment with no downtime and some like advanced treatments, all can be catered for. As an aesthetic nurse, I am trained in advanced medical chemical peels. I provide a bespoke chemical peel treatment at my clinic which is tailored to suit.
